About Eric
Hi, I'm Eric! I've been tutoring math and other subjects for over five years, and I believe that building a genuine connection with each student is at the heart of successful learning.
That's why I start every session by checking in—not just about schoolwork, but about how things are going, where they're feeling stuck, and what they're working toward. My background in psychology and mental health has shaped my approach to tutoring, helping me create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy hiking, cycling, kayaking, playing tennis, and making music. Most importantly, I love spending time with my wife, Mimi, and our dog, Bruno.
How it works
- 1Contact me about the class and what's feeling hard right now.
- 2We find a time that works, online or in person.
- 3First session: we figure out what's tricky and start connecting the dots.
Rates & scheduling
- Online: from $55/hour on Google Meet.
- In-person: $65+/hour, depending on travel distance. I'm based in the Nokomis neighborhood of South Minneapolis and travel to Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington, Edina, Richfield, and St. Louis Park.
- Sessions are usually 1 hour and can run longer in 15-minute steps when needed.
- I tutor Monday through Thursday and can be flexible when needed.
- Please send assignments at least 24 hours before each session.
Online sessions
We meet on Google Meet and work problems together on a shared Miro whiteboard. You'll need:
- A reliable internet connection
- A touchscreen tablet or laptop (phones are too small)
- A stylus, if you have one. It makes writing math much easier.
Frequently asked questions
How do we get started?
Send me a message with the contact form or email me. I'll reply to learn a little about your student and find a time for a first session.
Who do you work with?
Middle and high school students, in classes from Algebra 1 through IB Math. If your student needs help with a different subject, just ask.
What should we send or bring before each session?
Please send me the assignments or topics you want to work on at least 24 hours before each session. That gives me time to look them over and plan, so we can use our time most productively. The sooner, the better! For the session itself, have pencils, a calculator, the textbook, notes, and any assignments ready.
How long are sessions, and how often should we meet?
Sessions are usually 1 hour and can run longer in 15-minute steps when needed. Regular sessions and steady effort make the biggest difference, so we'll set up a schedule that fits your student's goals.
How do online sessions work?
After we schedule, you'll get a Google Calendar invite with the Google Meet link. We work problems together on a Miro whiteboard inside Meet. You'll need reliable internet and a touchscreen tablet or laptop (phones are too small). A stylus helps a lot.
How much does tutoring cost?
Online sessions start at $55/hour. In-person sessions start at $65/hour, depending on travel distance.
How does payment work?
I accept Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, and cash. The first payment is due right after our first session, then weekly after that.
What if we need to cancel or reschedule?
Let me know as soon as you can. Sessions canceled less than 24 hours ahead are charged in full.
What helps sessions go well?
Showing up on time, asking questions, and being honest about what's confusing. It's completely okay not to understand something! Please keep sessions free of guests, and tell me what's helping and where you want more support.
Let's connect
